New work

Over the past month or so I’ve been working with some new larger book pages, taken from an old book on French History which I discovered in an old book shop during the summer.

Choices for imagery, marks and text have been driven by recent exploration and reading around ideas to do with history and forms of expression. In particular discussion around some of the ideas raised by a book called ‘Quiet’ by Susan Cain

Sigmar Polke

A much needed day away from the Studio today to see the Sigmar Polke retrospective at the Tate Modern and the Jerwood Drawing Prize at the Jerwood Space.

The Sigmar Polke retrospective features an astonishingly diverse range of his work dating from 1963 to his death in 2010 and is just simply mind-blowing

Just down the road, the Jerwood Drawing Prize was a particular treat as the selection includes a surprising breadth of work and media which successfully challenges preconceptions about what ‘a drawing’ is. One of the prize winners is an audio piece.
