Commission for JD Wetherspoons

palimpsest work in angel vaults SAMSUNG

Had the pleasure this evening of seeing my work installed at the new restaurant venue in Hitchin, called the Angel Vaults, owned by the enormously successful JD Wetherspoons chain.

Tonight was the special preview evening; a ‘Live training’ event for the new staff, as well as an opportunity for those invited to view the space and sample some of the food and drink before it opens to the public

A classy revamp which sneaks in plenty of references to Hitchin’s historical legacy via art work and plaques dotted throughout this deceptively enormous space; I loved the tapestry hanging on a central staircase.

2 works on show at new Wetherspoons

For the past month I have been beavering away working on some large scale works for the new Wetherspoons venue opening in March, in Hitchin Town centre.

These works titled ‘Palimpsest’, which use Monoprint and stitch on book pages, pay homage to 3 of Hitchin’s more notable Literary personalities; namely George Orwell, George Chapman and Emily Davies.

In late December I was lucky enough to visit the site and witness the work going on to refurbish and revamp this historic building in Sun Street.

The Angel Vaults will be opening its doors on March 10th.
