The recent trips I have been making to North Norfolk with its captivating light and atmosphere, have had a subtle influence on my current work; the result being that the ‘Rosyas’ group not only have a landscape feel but are looking lighter and brighter.
I’m currently working on a new group of larger envelopes using mono print, collage and stitch for our upcoming Open studios at Digswell Arts Trust Studios. For these works I have been trying out over printing with more thinner, transparent layers of ink in order to give a more multilayered feel. I have also been drawn back to some earlier works where I was using scar like lines and diffused scratches for the mark making. I love the way these marks break up the inky surface and allow us to glimpse colours and marks underneath.
The interest for me with these is the link between marks, colours, shapes and process and the association with object, memory and place.
You can see more of these new works on the Rosyas page soon
